Middlesbrough Council have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Inclusion and Outreach team to help us deliver an even better service to the schools, settings and students, particularly those in alternative provision.

This is a key post within the Inclusion team which requires dedication and a highly efficient and responsible approach to supporting the timely and effective identification, assessment and review of children and young people who require additional support following exclusion.

We are looking for a team member who has the following:

Experience working in a busy, fast paced environment.

Strong work ethic and high personal work standards and an attention to detail.

Can work both supportively as a member of a team and independently to deliver the team’s objectives, with good interpersonal skills.

Have a positive attitude and embraces change leading to improvement.

Role specific tasks will include the following:

Ensuring appropriate education provision is in place for permanently excluded pupils by the 6th Day.

Establish and maintain records and oversee and enforce the processes in relation to permanent exclusion and suspension of children in Middlesbrough.

Support the keeping of accurate registers for children attending alternative provision or accessing intervention liaising with and Recoupment Officer.

Updating Capita records.

Attend case review meetings with parents, schools and Alternative Providers.

Organise multi agency meetings to discuss and decide pathways and provision for pupils. Prepare all necessary paperwork prior to panel.

Create monitor and review Individual Education Plans post Panel meeting.

Working collaboratively with alternative providers to identify reintegration readiness of students able to transition back into mainstream and ensuring effective and robust transition plans are in place.

This vacancy is fixed term until 31.07.2026
