We have an exciting role on offer within our Human Resource service as a Job Evaluation Business Partner.

About Us

Are you passionate about driving organisational improvement and shaping a fair, effective workplace? Middlesbrough Council is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Job Evaluation Business Partner to join a newly established team within the HR Service.

As a JE Business Partner, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Council’s strategic goals by:

  • Providing expert advice on Job Evaluation.
  • Leading on JE development activities and maintaining the Gauge+ system.
  • Coaching managers on pay, grading, and HR policy application.
  • Reviewing and developing JE policies and procedures.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for JE-related e-learning and toolkits.
  • Building strong relationships across the organisation and with external partners.

You’ll be instrumental in driving transformation, improving performance, and ensuring the Council remains a ‘good’ employer.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A degree or equivalent experience, ideally with CIPD membership or working towards it.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience in job evaluation within a local authority.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to equality, safeguarding, and continuous development.
