We have an exciting role on offer within our Public Protection as a Senior Public Health Officer.

About Us

Middlesbrough Council’s Public Protection Service are seeking to recruit to the role of Public Health Officer with key responsibilities for preventing alcohol related harm, working with regulatory services including licensing, police trading standards and environmental health.

To be successful in this role you need a relevant degree qualification or 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including Maths and English plus relevant knowledge gained from substantial experience of working in the community/public health field.

You will have a responsibility for promote health and wellbeing, tackle health inequalities, and protect the public from the wide range of harms caused by alcohol. 

As a Public Health Officer you will be required to:

Support and manage a wide range of public health programmes focusing on key priorities relating to health protection and ill-health prevention.

Respond to licensing functions on behalf of the Director of Public Health. 

Work closely with a range of partners to carry out research, identify best practice, to develop initiatives to tackle alcohol related harm. 

Have a flexible and creative approach and be able to build relationships with key organisations, communities and the VCS to achieve outcomes.
