We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Compliance Officer to join our Health and Safety Team and help ensure our services operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with statutory requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Council's Health and Safety Management System across the Environment, Communities and Culture Directorate. You'll work closely with managers and employees, carrying out inspections, monitoring compliance activities, maintaining records and helping drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out workplace inspections and compliance monitoring activities.
  • Supporting managers with the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring actions arising from audits, inspections and fire risk assessments.
  • Maintaining compliance records, training records and risk assessment information.
  • Supporting incident reporting and corrective action monitoring.
  • Reviewing health and safety documentation and promoting best practice.
  • Acting as Site Manager for Resolution House.
  • Helping develop a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.

You will have:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Level 3 Health and Safety qualification.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance monitoring.
  • Strong organisational, communication and IT skills.
  • Experience of working collaboratively and building positive working relationships.

Desirable qualifications and experience include IOSH membership, a training qualification, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, knowledge of fire safety and local government experience.
